PIXXI Lab

PIXXI Lab

A woman in her thirties. Looming war forces her and her family to move out and leave everything. Before setting off, the woman digs a hole in the ground where she secures a sewing machine, her most cherished possession and the instrument of her work. After five years the war is over. The woman comes back and finds her sewing machine which has survived, forgetful of all the destruction history has brought on. Almost seventy years go by and another woman, her granddaughter, finds the sewing machine among heaps of forgotten things and lost memories. It is still perfectly working. Past and present entwine, sewn together by skilful hands weaving new stories. From this texture PIXXI surfaces.

StudioAlchemico

StudioAlchemico

StudioAlchemico tries to summarize different cultural references, which are in continuous evolution. In these terms, the designer’s goal is not creating, but joining different elements and, in a wider sense, experimenting, just as the ancient alchemists used to do. So, are they searching for the new philosopher’s stone? In a certain sense, yes, they are.

anonima|Mente

anonima|Mente

anonima|Mente design is a self-produced design brand created in 2010 by Laura Giovannini, architect. The term "anonima" - "anonymous" - plays ironically on the extreme simplification of forms, which leads to products actually anything but anonymous, in fact strongly influenced by the aesthetic point of view, original and distinctive. Laura Giovannini graduated in architecture at the University of Ferrara in 2010. In the same year she founded anonima|Mente design and started working as self-produced designer to a style which is strongly influenced by her architectural training, subtle and minimal.

Paolo Ulian & Moreno Ratti / 40 X 40

What you can get from from the marble tiles found in dusty warehouses of our craft companies? What things can be made by cutting one marble tile 40 x 40 cm with water jet machine, assembling simply the pieces without creating waste material? The trial on these issues has led Paolo Ulian and Moreno Ratti, duo of architects who won several competitions and participated to a great number of exhibitions, to collaborate and create 40 X 40, their collection of home accessories.
